This is a TI. tonystott - You are right, there is a bungee under the rear ama that attaches to the "eyelet post" above the map pocket to keep the amas in. I have been thinking that maybe I can use it for some sort of barber-haul config. The tramps don't really seem to need it. |

I think that the best anchor point for a barber-hauler would be the rear pad-eye on the ama. I think some people just put some bungee cord there and hook it onto the clew when running downwind, to keep the sail open. A more sophisticated, but complex method is to attach a block there and run a line from the clew to a cleat somewhere on the hull. I am not so sure the extra complexity is justified. |

A strong, adjustable length bungee on each side can provide a sophisticated range of downwind sail trims, without worries. I usually anchor mine to the Akas at the hull mounting points, but you can use wrapped bungee balls out on the Amas and slide these in and out like a traveler. Very low tech. Very Nohuhu.
