Post subject: | TI Carrying Handle |
I thought I read something months ago about a new style carrying handle that wouldn't scoop water into my lap like my current handles do. I can't seem to find anything about it. Does anyone know anything about this or did I dream it? Thanks - Herb |

Yes, we have developed a new over-molded sealed handle for the Islands - they aren't available just yet - but should become available within a month or so I'm told. This newer style handle will be sold through the parts department so you can order from a dealer at that time. The change will be announced when it becomes available, and a part number will be assigned. Thus far, the entire process is not finished, so wait for another few weeks and Matt will provide the final details and price. |

As Jacques mentioned... design is done, but production lead time is many months typically, so don't expect to see this at dealers till after the first of the year. |

What? No sneak peak? You've described it. Can you show it? |

Glad to see it wasn't a dream I look forward to them for next summer. Dry suit season is right around the corner for me and the water influx doesn't bother me whilst wearing it. |

So there's no truth in the rumour that Hobie planned instead to greatly increase the contour of the middle of the seat (!) so that you no longer needed handles in the first place? |

Very nice. I'd just like to point out that the test boat is a red one... probably because they're faster, right NOHUHU? |

More likely they had lots of red ones lying around in stock that they couldn't shift. |

Thanks for that link Slaughter, 8 posts and I had never seen that thread There isn't any convenient attachment areas on the TI though. In the starboard picture above you can see a screw in fitting just forward of the handle, but there is nothing behind it. On the port side there is nothing at all as the paddle bungee is by the front seat instead of the rear seat. |
