Randy Smythe & his custom-made tri "Scizzors" finished the 2011 Watertribe Everglades Challenge in 1st place; however, this year he capsized about 5 mi from the finish and his boat was seriously damaged by a powerboater who came to his assistance. The accident ended his race--he was in second place overall. Keith |

I don't know what I was thinking. It may have been a 2 years ago or I'm just not remembering correctly. I missed this years ec (was out of town). Two yrs ago I went to ft desoto and watched them launch then later that day I was sailing out in Sarasota bay during the ec and tried to keep up with scissors with my TI and couldn't even come close to his speed ( that's how I recognized the boat). I was really impressed with his design, building, and sailing skills ( I don't know the guy), but I thought I read that he did really well. That's all I remember, sorry about the mixup. Bob |
