AWESOME!!!

were those mackeral (possibly of the spanish variety)¿

would it be easier to just spin around and sit backwards when you get a fish on? this was always my plan, but i'm still working up towards bring a rod with me.

any recommendations on what kind of lure to use for trolling at our TI speeds of like 5-7 kts??

It's easier as you see in the video. I curl a little candle and keep the speed with the pedals so that the line does not escape stress and lose the fish. Say you turn around you do not control either the TI. It seems awkward position but it is not. Decoy type depends on the speed, depth, etc. area fish. For tuna fishing offshore octopuses are good 20 cm colors white and blue or white and pink and heavy head and agugereada to create bubbles that attract the fish. But best to try in your area either lure.

A Jet Head, skirted surface lure. At least 5". Blue sparkles w/ white and pink underbelly.

Or a big, 10-25ft diving crystal minnow.

Add a heavy 8' mono leader or shorter wire leader for pelagics.

Keep the drag light and don't rush to set the hook. Use a gaff for keepers only Watch out for the rudder, dagger, mirage while boating the fish.

If it works, share some good fish recipes from your end of the world!

(Or ignore all this and go drinking with that ancient local fisherman who saved your TI. Your treat, of course. ;-)
