Hi guys,

On my 2011 A.I. I find that the 'cut-out' section of the front inner corner of the tramps fits very poorly over the newer (V2?) AKA knuckle joints.

On the older style AKAS with the retaining pins, the fit is very well, but on the newer style AKAS I find that the cut-out section isn't the correct size and shape to clear the rather bulbous knuckles.

Is this something that others have noticed?

Or are there specific tramps for the newer AKAS?

Cheers,

Mike.

May be a positioning issue. Pulled too far outboard / inboard?

There is only one pattern used for both aka versions.

Mike, we just put tramps on a TI for a sail and they were a tighter fit over the knuckles, but they did make it.

Maybe you could post a pict?

Here's a shot of the right side tramp fitted.

It seems like the width of the 'hem' that sits between the top of the knuckle and the mainsheet cleat is too wide...

Is this what it's supposed to look like?

Cheers,

Mike.

Possibly. Looks odd.

Hard to tell from the shot, but to me it looks like the cleat is in the wrong position. Too far to Starboard.

And that the "Outhaul" for the tramp needs to be pulled tighter (toward the Ama).

Do the sleeves with the holes measure the same on both tramps? We could check the dimensions of ours and compare.

Just chasing-up this thread after forgetting about it for a while!

I've measured the distance between the starboard AKA clamp and the mainsheet cleat (23mm)
and the AKA clamp to the knuckle-joint pin 'collar' (118mm). (see following pic):

Does this sound correct?

Mike,
I know you have an AI but for interest sake here are a couple of close up photos of my new TI tramps.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for that... looks like I need to shift the mainsheet cleat inboard a bit...

Cheers,

Mike.

Thought so - I wonder how it can be so far out of alignment?

Can you tell me what the thread size is of the screws that hold the cleats in-place (I guess an SAE size)?

Cheers,

Mike.

These are the Harken 471 carbo cams we use

Check the specs page - lists as 4 RH mm screws. 27mm separation.

They still may need trimming to proper length.

Cheers.

Mingle, Binks should correct that for you, as I reckon that is a manufacturing fauly, and the cleat has been placed incorrectly.
