That BatBoat was a blast to sail! So very smooth ride even in 3-4 foot waves.

I got to get working on making my own.

But as a conciliation you also pick up the award for the most informative posts.

Point of order Mr HBWR Awards Chairman!
I'm going to challenge this world record.
Whilst not wanting to take anything away from Bob (fusioneng) I reckon the World Record for 'Most Informative Posts' can only go to one person. It has to belong to Roadrunner. Hands down the most informative poster here. There's a good reason he's a 'Hobie Guru' remember.

I propose Bob be awarded the 'World Record for Informative Posts on Ultra Modifications' instead. :)

Yeah, sorry mate RoadRunner's threads slipped from my memory. You must be younger than me ( by about 2 or 3 days if I remember rightly ) .

I don't mind being older, just as long as I never start look'n it.

Mr HBWR Awards Chairman:
I gladly concede the title and my crown to Roadrunner for the most informative posts (but I' m not turning in my Hobie T-shirt). Roadrunner is a rockstar on this forum.

Bob (former record holder (for like a day)) :D

Not sure about the helicopter idea Slaughter as the conditions required to capture your AI in full flight would also mean a very windy ride for the helicopter with the distinct possibility of the two of you parting company! Would it keep up? Haven't tried the kite thing but the beauty of it is that it is actually anchored to the boat and so has a better than average chance of remaining in your posession.

I saw that pic and felt very disturbed - I got that knot-in-stomach PuppyLove feeling previously reserved only for unobtainable SuperModel types I happen to meet

... turning 51 last weekend seems to have changed my priorities :o

Is the first ever RC flight while sailing title still up for grab?

So you were flying an aircraft equipped with camera while sailing your Island? What was the aircraft? Cool photo!!

If you can land it back on the moving HMS Hobie aircraft carrier, you sure have my vote.

The picture was taken from my RC Quadrocopter, landing is the most challenging part especially when the batteries are running low!

It's official them.

TheFlyingNorthman now holds the Hobie Island World Record for the first person to operate and photograph using a RC Copter from onboard a Hobie Island.

If you angle one of the HAKA's to use as your take off landing strip ( with a catapult and landing wires). You can then add landing lights and a glide slope landing light tree. ( for night operation)
Just remember during landing operations the boat ( your carrier) needs to be headed up wind at flank speed.
Your other HAKA can be used for rescue chopper T/L operations.
Boy would all that be fun.
