Gee I dunno Changeman, although I like Canberra, I wouldn't fancy sailing on Lake Burley Griffin, not with all that odorous stuff that's coming out of Parliment House of late sewering into and polluting the lake!

The idea of doing the Lakes at the Murray Mouth and perhaps the 100kms along the Coorong would be something really different. The wind should be good coming over the sandhills from the southern ocean with no waves on the Coorong itself, so beam reach southwards and then all the way back to Goolwa. The big Hobie dealer in Adelaide (Binks Marine - two big stores) ought to be able to shed some light on what the trip would be like. If you get serious about such a venture, contact Shane on (08) 8294 6211.
Cheers Vintagereplica

We overcame the Parliament problem the night before when the finale of the Centenary concert was the Tchaikovsky 1812 using 6" Howitzer canons. They were pointed down Anzac Parade, across the lake to Parliament House. But I'm not admitting that I replaced the blanks with live rounds.

I'll talk to Shane about a "big week out".

Cheers,
Brian

100 ks down the Coorong on a beam reach? There's an idea whose time has come. Count me in, though we might be better coming the other way

G'day Matt

Haven't chirped in before because I was unable to watch your video on my iPad and was away from home all last week.

Now that I have watched it I must congratulate you on both doing the trip and the excellent video, complete with commentary - and as an extra, I think I saw a mermaid on the island :D

The gang down here love cruising the Gippsland Lakes and try and get out on camping trips a few times each year. We are hoping to do our annual Sale to Lakes Entrance 100 km (approx) trip in the next few weeks.

However, we have been talking about exploring further afield and Philip island is one of the destinations we have been contemplating. So your video is a very nice teaser 8)

I think we would try and break it up into a minimum of two day camping trip.
I am told there are spectacular cliffs and caves...... :?: :o

Do you live somewhere nearby?? It would be great to have you join us on such a trip. Likewise, we would be only too pleased to show you our backyard - if you're nor already familiar with what it has to offer. (Haven't seen any mermaids here yet   )

Cheers

Mickey...if you and your buddies ever want to do this I will be happy to act as ground crew and discuss strategies. Spreading the trip over two days is a lot more sensible than squeezing it into 10 hrs!
