I think all Island owners would be well advised to make the modification that I outline near the end of the video - without that reinforcement you're apt to have the same thing happen. If this is normal wear and tear, then it's not a matter of if it's going to happen, only when. I'm going to make the mod on my Adventure Island sail this afternoon. I may shoot a video at the same time and get it online. I think this can be done much easier and with less strap than I showed in the original video. Even if you have to buy a glue gun, we're only talking about a $10 modification that is very likely going to save a $700+ sail. |

not to downplay your situation, but if this was all that common you'd think the board would be full of posts about it ... ALOT of people have put some serious time, as in years, on their sails and not a peep (and not "easy" time either ..) I just dont get it |

Hmmmm, I am suspecting a one-off production fault. I have flogged (not necessarily a poor choice of words) my TI sail on at least 100 outings since launching a year ago, and have even had to replace the telltales as they got so frayed they were useless, yet the top of my sail looks to be in pristine codition. Still, your mod looks good Tom, and thanks for sharing it with us. |

I originally suspected it was just a bad sail or improper stitching, but can only report what Hobie told me - "normal wear and tear." I won't buy another Hobie sail just to be on the safe side and plan to reinforce the other two Hobie sails I currently have. |

Go find a shoe shop...NOT a sail shop and tell them what you want and expect. While not wit my AI I have taken in other sails as I live no where near water. No disappointments to date. |
