Post subject:  Renting a Tandem Island in NJ?

Hi, I'm new to the forum, am interested in buying a used or new Tandem Island, and looking to rent one for a day to get a feel for it—anyone know if I can rent one anywhere in NJ? I live in Upper Montclair so north is better, but I'd be willing to take a bit of a ride south or if there were any in nearby NY or CT. I'm going to 'demo' one next weekend in Brick but I don't believe that will be fully rigged with the sail, and that will be in a pond. Any help would be appreciated.

Another question: I'm noticing the pricing at a couple of NJ dealers listing shipping charges--am I expected to pay the cost of shipping from Hobie to the dealer? Is it best to wait for a boat show for a better deal? I'd need a trailer also, the pricing from one dealer is $5,499. for the tandem, $2,330. for a trailex trailer (and it doesn't specify if that's for a tandem), and 'freight from Hobie in CA' as $550. How does that compare to what others have paid, esp. for the trailer?

Any advice appreciated, thanks!
