I need to raise my sail in the back as it doesnt work well with the Hobie Livewell. I found this $4 rod holder from walmart, stuck it in the middle rod holder on the back of the livewell and attached the pulley to the top of that. As long as I brace the back of the livewell to the Hobie I would think this should work fine. Anyone have any feedback on this?

Even the small Hobie sail can generate a lot of power. You may find that the live well or the rod holder are not substantial enough to hold it. Some of the Texas guys have built roll bars to channel their sheet through. You might look into something like that. It should keep the line off the top of the live well.

Thanks Tom I will check that out. I like this quick setup but am also unsure if it can handle the pull

Just a quick update on this. This setup actually works quite well. I have taken it out 5-10x and the only issue I had was the zip tie breaking once.

I use my livewell in my TI all the time -but I removed the rod holders from the back of it and sealed up the holes with the same bolts and rubber washers. I don't get any fouling of the sheet on it - the sheet just slides over the top of the livewell without the rod-holders there to interfere.

I use what is called a "Roll Bar" keeps the main sheet controlled and can hold 4 rods.
