Hello nice people!

I intend to buy torqeedo evolve ultra light to my AI

think ball mount option seems better than miragedrive mount.

http://www.torqeedo.com/us/electric-out ... and-canoes

Advantage you have engine and mirage drive available at the same time, it seems easier to quickly flip up engine in shallow water, the engine has its place, miragedrive has its place, no storage problems.

What do you think, get ball mount option too complex, obstruction of sailing?

pardon my weird English

Your English is certainly not weird!! I would love to help you, but have no experience with Evolve systems. Hopefully somebody will chime in.

I don't think the ball mount would get in your way at all.

When I was using an Ultralight 403 I mounted it as seen in the picture below. The reason I did it that way is that it was too much trouble for me to remove the motor when I wanted to. With this mount I just pull one pin and the motor comes off leaving the rest of the mount on the boat.

I've since switched to a Torqeedo 1003 so this mount/motor is available if anyone is interested.

The thing that makes me hesitate on Torqeedo 403 ball mount on Hobie AI now when studing videos and read in the forum is that I think that the shaft might be too short.
The horizontal arm and tilt mechanism is located almost in the water. If angles the horizontal arm a little upward to not lie too near the water gets the shaft too short? And the circular shaft sucking air at full speed. Which also may be due to the short shaft?

Someone who can confirm that the shaft would have been longer on a fast moving AI in motorsailing mode, or is that no issue?
