Now that's a really good question, if Hobie has indeed re-designed the mirage drive and is currently shipping with all their new boats, this means the tooling for the old mirage drives is no longer being used and they have likely stopped production on the old drives. For those who simply can't wait till January, and don't mind not getting the new seats and the new bow. I wonder if you could order a 2014 with the new drive (there would likely be an up charge).
Chances are no because they probably built a stock pile of complete TI's to hold them over, so the inventory is existing and already made, but it sure wouldn't hurt to ask.
I'm kind of a pedaling nut and would love to get my hands on one of the new drives, but there is nothing wrong with my old ones. Also my 2012 TI is still going strong so I can't justify a new one (these boats are really well made).
Bob

Hi Josh I finally made it to Australia, I'm in Hervey Bay mate. It took me a bit longer to get here than I anticipated. Now all I'm waiting for is the new AI and I'll be has happy as a pig in muck, if your doing Fraser this year let me know mate it would be great to meet up after all these years.

Hey Roller, glad you made it - you're in the right place to own an Island. Yep, will be doing Fraser Isl this year (of course) and I'll be going back in May as well. Probably better to try and catch us when we return. We usually get to HB late on the Fri, and launch really early on the Sat. We're all about prep and last minute stuff the night before and we're all business launch day to. We always try to get to Wathumba before sundown, so that means launching early as possible. We'll return to mainland on the following Sat or Sunday, depending on weather, etc.

Yep Bob, all the individual components have been sitting in the new price list for a while now. Good news for those who aren't ready or willing to update an entire kayak or drive to get the new glide-tech lovin

Yeah that's great news alright, really looking forward to trying the new drive and seeing the bearings setup. I can see I will be busy with drive updates into the new year.

Damn, the yak trailer is empty, everytime I walk into the shed the yak trailer is empty. Starting to have AI withdrawals and it's only been a fortnight. I'm already looking for a name for the new boat.

I'm going Ivory Dune this time.

Another 3 months wait.

Yeah Bob, I'm hanging out for the new AI. A little disappointing that it won't be ready in time for the Nov Fraser trip (because its going to be so much better for expeditions) but I anticipated the delay and thats why I didn't rush to sell the AI I have now. I'll be heading back to Fraser in May 2015, so will put the new to the test then. Actually, planning a couple of trips to Wilsons Prom prior to May, so will get to trial it there first

Hobie has updated their web site with a VANTAGE seat video, Lowrance picture, and Glide Mirage drive. Far as I can tell the pictures are still not the new boats

I have been following all of the posts and the new information on the 2015 AI and TI. Its a little confusing.

From what I can tell and what posters say, for 2015, there are MAJOR upgrades (a REDO) to the AI all around from sail to hull to seats.

What are people calling the changes to the 2015 TI? A minor facelift with new chairs? Would you consider more major changes coming to the TI in 2016? The question for me is to whether trade my 2013 Oasis for where I want to go (the TI) in 2015 or wait until 2016....

Can anyone help me characterize how I should think of the 2015 TI and whether more changes are a coming that are worth waiting for?

Bob
