Well I was planning to do a bit of TI maintenance today so I've just finished weighing the TI. The hull was weighed on bathroom scales twice. Once, balanced on the scale and the second time with me standing on the scales and holding the hull. The readings were close so I'd say these are accurate figures.
The other bits were weighed with a luggage spring scale.
Results
2010 TI bare Hull (including drivewell plugs but no seats, no flotation) = 58kg (or 140kg - my weight 81kg =59kg)
Aka (x4) = 6.76kg
Ama 1x 10.24kg + 1x 10.31kg =20.55kg
Mast/Sail/bag =6.48kg
Total = 91.79kg for the main TI pieces.
Add to that:
2x miragedrives =3.22kg x2 =6.44kg
2x original seats = 2x 1.3kg = 2.6kg
2x paddles = 2x 1.2kg =2.4kg

Total fitted weight 2010 TI = 103.23kg or 227.59lbs
v
Matts 2015 TI figures =108.86 or 240lbs

Conclusion: The TI's minor upgrades have only added slightly to the fitted weight.

Thanks so much Stringy. Can the Amas/Akas easily fit inside a car or are they way too long/big? That way I could get the "roof weight" down to 65kg. Otherwise at 90kg's there's no chance I can carry it on the roof because the roof limit is 75kg (unless I buy a new car) :( :( :(

I know the amas are longer on the new version but on the older version, are they small enough to get in a vehicle or still too big?

Cheers!

Pre-2015 amas will fit in a Falcon/Commodore wagon; akas would fit easily across the back seat. Hope this helps.

Good job Stringy. That lays that issue to rest. Makes sense.

Thanks guys.
Just to clear up what seems to be a misconception dammit! (and no, I'm not cranky   )
It was the AI that got much longer ama with the 2015 upgrades.
The TI ama length did not really change. The reverse bow may have made them slightly longer but it wouldn't be by much.

Tony,
That's good to know the ama will fit inside a Holden/Falcon wagon.
Sadly, they don't fit inside my Prado wagon.

Yeah, I realised that my example might not have been universally relevant, but I was trying to give him a genersl idea using a local yardstick LOL

Can anyone tell me the length of the amas on the new AI (so I can go out my car with a tape measure)?

Also, how does the new AI perform as a kayak without the akas/amas? Does the higher seating position make it significantly less stable?
