I have seen quite a varied array of photos of the 2015 Adventure island since late August, with different sail designs.
Is the sail in this photo the actual sail that comes with all new AI's ?
Love the fact that it has full length batons.

I'm guessing the mast is longer that on the pre-2015 A.I. models?

Might be a worthwhile purchase for anyone looking to get a bit more speed from their older A.I.s

Mike.

I was actually talking about the photos of 2015 AI's, not previous models.. The sail in various photos are different.

The AI 2 (=2015 model) mast will not fit other AI models.

Is the mast a larger diameter?

Mike.

Yes - that's the new sail for the AI (2015)

Stringy corrected me on this. See http://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=7276&p=250295#p250295

Here is an image of the AI and AI 2 bases. They are the same diameter and the latching ring is the same. Only the furling ring is different (slightly higher in the AI 2), but not a problem for using the newer AI 2 mast in place of the AI mast. Be aware that the AI mast (pre-AI 2) is capable of driving the AI bow and ama well under water in strong winds. So, the larger AI 2 mast & sail will not serve any purpose in high winds--they need to be furled to varying degrees. They should help in light winds.

Obviously the deck is higher in the 2015 which required that the furling drum sit a bit higher. Thanks for the photo.
