Hey guys,
hope i can grab your attention for my project which is well underway.
Please go to my website http://www.the-flying-northman.com
or even better like my facebook page http://www.facebook.com/theflyingnorthman
on those sites you can live track me and read some stories like i got on during my 30hr crossing from Ireland to England
or how i crossed one the busiest shipping lanes in the world...
Thanks to this forum i was able to adapt some very useful modifications that helped me already to keep me out of trouble.
I wish Hobie customer service would be that helpful and forthcoming!...

best Hendrik

Hendrik,
I suspect your local Hobie contacts are the exception..Hobie has a reputation for outstanding customer service.

Well...
I had always thought the EC was quite an expedition @ 300 plus miles...
Then came the Race to Alaska (R2AK) @ 750 miles...
Now Hendrik Lepel is well under way on his "KinSale to HanseSail" challenge @ about 1350 nautical miles!!!!

This is challenge is from KinSale Ireland to Rostock Germany via the Irish Sea (not an easy crossing) and the English Channel not to mention the many shipping lanes and a busy canal!
Granted, he has given himself ample time to complete this trip (he planned 4 - 6 weeks) but it appears that he is well ahead of schedule as he is probably more than 3/4 of the way there already in just a couple of weeks!
Quite amazing and I bet quite beautiful to experience.

If you haven't already, check out his web site where there is a nice live tracker and a blog that seems to mirror his facebook page at:
http://www.the-flying-northman.com
His facebook page is at:
http://www.facebook.com/theflyingnorthman

The only think missing is maybe a few more photos or video but maybe that will come in due time...
I know that I am going to keep an eye on this!

Don

Thanks for your comments!
I am here now and arrived 12days early, well looks like i have more time for my real holiday... doing nothing...ok not quite
have to do a few more write ups, pics and film stuff so the party is not over!
Tony, i am sure the customer service in the US is really good, unfortunatly it does not count for Hobie Kayak Europe, i had hoped to receive a bit more problem solving attitude towards my project when things had to be replaced...instead, i had a lot of additional hassle and not the comfort of an office with everything at hand....

best hendrik
