Just wanted to get your opinion about this tiller system from Hajime K.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmokGcagtJk

I like it because
- I think it's better than using hiking stick.
- It can be a backup rudder control if the internal rudder lines broke while sailing.

My concerns are:
- In and out the kayak will be quite difficult not unless you deploy once you're fully seated and put it aside before exiting the kayak.
- spend about 100 dollars for something that I have not seen implemented by others.
- might be an issue for outboard user like me or maybe not...

Probably the best mod I've done to my boat, I have a solo A.I. and use a 52 Qt. Igloo cooler as a seat back. With Hajimes steering set up, I can sit atop the cooler and steer the boat, even do a bit of stand-up sailing when the conditions are right, VERY good idea, but you're right, it was over a hundred dollars for the parts, quite painful at first. I hardly ever touch the tiller handle now, even when seated.

Fascinating video! Very clever and ingenious.
Does anyone have a parts list. Specifically what gauge line and what kind of blocks?

Ditto...

I also like the fact that it's something that can be left on when rigged down and doesn't involve any 'hard' mods to the boat etc. I just used what I had in the shed in terms of blocks etc. doesn't really matter.

I will be putting this on my boat. Laying on the tramps and sailing is great, but I was steering with my foot or toes on the rudder control. Here's another video with a setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXNIUOL0LzU
