There is also the question about restrooms along the way. There are only three. Not very convienent and not at the camps. This is remote beach camping for sure. So you learn to pee in the mirage drive and use typical remote camping techniques for defication. One trick is to use something like this...

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I6EXTQY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_stzDybD319JGS

Your tent becomes your private outhouse. Stools are double bagged in biodegradable bags and buried or tossed in a dumpster in the end
I bought the camo color so that I would be invisible when taking care of business.

That looks like a pretty nice portable toilet. I like the idea of a private outhouse! Last year, I just dug a hole and did my thing, but the worst thing about that was trying to find some privacy with 50+ other boats around. At some camps you have to take a pretty long walk!

Living Waters, that would be well received at the camps, I'm sure. I'm surprised no one used those last year. Should be flexible enough to fit down in the hull. Tony's right- camo mean invisible.

Would love to have you join us John. The Tx200 is easier than the EC. Wind to your back the majority of the time and no cold nights. It would be good training and help you determine if you like these sailing challenge type events.

I'm officially interested... really interested.

I already live in SW Texas, doing this seems like a no-brainer. I first learned about the TX200 last fall, and I just found this discussion today. I'd be joining as someone new to sailing (bought my TI last fall), but I'm very experienced in backpacking/camping. I'd love to do something like this. I've already had my TI out about weekly since I bought it.

I want in, but it looks like I need to start working some of the logistical details ASAP.

We would love to have you join us Alan. If you decide your in and you need a place to stay, we still have room for 2 more in the two condos we rented. Just let me know.

This is probably a good time to let everyone know that we have decided to share the popup outhouse and popup toilet with all islanders as long as you purchase your own biodegradable bags on Amazon. That's one logistic behind you.

Alright Greg, add another TI to the list... I'm in.

Did I read correctly, the place you arranged to stay included space in a slip? I just want to be sure I don't need to go find one on my own...

Welcome Alan! I will make sure we have one boat slip reserved for every 2 islands. Two boats will share each slip. Once we get close, I will total the costs and send an email out to everyone with their share of cost. Just realize that we have your lodging and slip taken care of for Saturday and Sunday before the launch on Monday. There will be 4 people per condo and both condos connect.

We are planning a Texas 200 dry run overnight sailing /camping trip. Hope to test out our equipment and boats fully loaded.

On May 6th and 7th, we will sail out of Palacios, Tx and camp at Sunday Beach in Port O'Connor. If wind direction does not cooperate, we can camp at Magnolia Beech as backup. We will return the next day. Each day is about a 22-25 mile sail.

So far we have 4 islanders participating and would welcome others- even if your not planning to sail the Tx200. Let us know if your interested.

Chad, you going to be able to make this one?

I'll probably be down for this! It doesn't look like I have anything going on that weekend. All I need to do is get a new tent in time. I sent my old one in for repair, and they ended up warranting it, so I just need to get my replacement. By the way, Marmot customer service is top notch. They gave me a full refund on my almost 20 year old tent because of the waterproofing on the fly deteriorating. I am very impressed by them.
What time where you all planning on sailing out on Saturday?
