I am going to transport my AI on car top rails but wonder if I should construct a special cradle to rest it on. Also had anyone created anything with wheels to help loading & unloading from car top?

Without a roof rack, you can also lock the kayak on the car's roof using rope and pool noodles. The width of the car should be covered by at least three heavy-duty pool noodles. Rope should be threaded through each pool noodle. Place one pool noodle in the center of the car's roof, another close to the front windshield, and a third close to the back glass.

I repurposed a spare aluminium ladder to act as a stiffner and brace. The cradles from my trailer strap on and I added a boat roller to give me something to rest the AI on prior to lifting and pushing up onto the roof.
