Hey Matt:

One question, how does the mast cup attach to the bottom of the kayak? I can't tell unless I disassemble the unit.

There is a stud and nut. The stud threads into an insert molded in the hull. The whole thing sits on top of a hump in the keel. No change to that part of the system.

I have the new 2008 mast and cup with the new plastic clip sitting in my garage waiting for warmth so I can change it, along with the twist and stow kit. It was 11 degrees on Long Island today, so I guess I'll have to wait awile. Has anyone made the mast/cup conversion on the 2007 yet, and are there any surprises?
