Mornings around here are usually pretty calm, so I frequently take the AI out in just the basic kayak mode. I also have a small Hobie sail that is easy to pack along in case some wind appears. I am curious as to how other AI owners use their boats -- exclusively or mostly for sailing, or for other activities as just a basic kayak. Thanks. |

Coming back to this question...its interesting because I find myself going out more and more just using the AI as an Adventure. Ease of fishing is the main reason I get terribly tangled if a fish passes beneath me with the amas out.....also if the wind is marginal I worry about the slog factor coming home. If its marginal I dont have to think twice about going out without the sail, less preparation no tacking in and out from the shore I want to troll ALONG When theres a breeze I still go sailing but I find that I am in fact going out a lot more without the sail and akas amas than lets say a year ago. wandering from the above a bit .. possibly risking the sword of Damocles descending upon me...... can someone please explain 2 rods behind a kayak, seems to me if you trolled thru a shoal of fish and had 2 simultaneous hits you would have one hell of a job on your hands, yet i see plenty of pics of AI's with a rod in each holder. i mean while your busy reeling in one fish wont the other one on the other rod just take more line and go find a rock or coral head to wrap itself around in the interim? I get in a big enough mess trying to land one fish but two at the same time...JEEZ |

Philip, You will know you have reached the pinnacle of kayakfishingdom when you can handle 2 rods w/ 2 fish simultaneously--keep trying. Keith |

the more hooks in the water the more possible hookups, but it can quickly turn into a three ring circus. |
