Well as some of you know I fish as many kayak fishing tournaments on the east coast as possible I was at the Jamaica Bay Tournament this past weekend in New York. Lost first place striper division by 3 inches As usual I get there a day or two early to do some pre-fishing During the pre-fish I used the AI fully rigged for sailing and fishing. I was cruising all around the bay and catching fish and taking pictures So after the Capts meeting a bunch of people walked up to Joey (event organizer) and asked if the AI's were allowed to sail in the event. I know that in the past all events have been human power only. But just like early on with the Hobie and mirage drive yakfisherman thought the Hobie had a advantage I don't know how to take it, but it clearly creates conversation, and conversation is good I don't know where it will go, maybe they will have a non human power division in the kayak fishing tournaments What is clear to me is that people recognize the AI as being a competitive advantage, yes it will get you places faster, yes it will take you places that you could not normally get to paddling anyway you look at I think its very cool for Hobie, what do you think? |

Al You might point out some disadvantages also. http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=8629 There are others. Speed up and lose some bait trolling capability. etc Over here so far no objections to use of sail. |
