Post subject:  Virginia Beach Words of Wisdom

We are in Va Beach for a couple months with our AI and Revolution with sail. I noticed Gwiz is from Va Beach, but could not send a PM for some reason. I was wondering if he or anyone else could suggest good places to take our kayaks. In addition to the Bays, any other places that might be fun and interesting. I thought about sailing from First Landing to Cape Charles until I read the post. Sounds like a bit too much of a challenge for today! Also, any words of wisdom for sailing in this area. Thanks!

I would be happy to give you the low down on good places around here that I have sailed, you can email me at [email protected]. Lately I have just been using boat ramps because I keep mine all setup and ready to launch.

First Landing is good for Bay/Ocean, back a bit where the Bay Bridge Tunnel makes landfall is better and where most the cats sail. Across the Bay and back are doable for the Island but not to sure about the Revo.

I don't think I will try it alone again unless we get a good wind out of the East. I am into sailing to places and am all ways on the lookout for new places to put in and to try and sail to. I will try to figure out how to use Google Earth and photo shop to put some maps together in the mean time here is a link to the local windsurf launches.
