You have ONLY six days left to change your mind. If you are not ready for the Watertribe North Carolina Pamlico Challenge (300 miles), then there is the old North Carolina Challenge (90 miles).

This year will be the first running of the North Carolina Pamlico Challenge.

And fourth year for the North Carolina Challenge.

If not this year then when???

The AI and TI have proven that they are the best all around boats for Watertribe. In North Carolina they excel even more due to the shallow water and winding channels.

Prove to your self that you are still alive. Sign up. See you on the starting line September 27th...

One Day, 10 Hours to the start of the Watertribe North Carolina (100 mile) and Pamlico (300 mile) Challenge. Start time 0700 Eastern Time on Friday.

This year it looks like it will be a rough one. Winds are looking like 20-25 knots. The weather has been colder than the usual September.

You can follow the race on the tracking map:
http://www.watertribe.com/Events/ChallengeGMapper.aspx
There are two races starting at the same time so switch between the NCC and NCPC.

North Carolina has many mashes with few ideal camping spots along the course. I have created a on board sleeping shelter out of a double dodger and a old tent that I had.

I will try to post some pictures to my BLOG from my cell phone.

All the best Paul. We're root'n for ya. And any other forum members of course. Your sleep-on-board setup looks the part. Hope it keeps the weather off and the flue at bay this time. How did you fair after last year ? I seem to remember you picked up a nasty cough ?

Last race I did cough so hard that I started throwing up. The stomach acid burned my esophagus and I could not eat for a week. Lost 10 pounds.

Watertribe is the best and quickest weight loss program I know. I managed to keep my weight low after that for months. Now if I could put it in a book or bottle it in a pill I might have a real money maker... :D

Incase you have never seen a rudder break, I was lucky enough that my GoPro turned and caught the rudder. You can hear the snap. At 2:49 minutes.

My video production is very slow so I am running a few months behind.

Don't know why the You Tube direct link does not work???

Ah, the memories, changing rudder pins while in the water. At least the water in Maui are warm. Brrrrr!

A warning to others with less experience, being in the water next to your boat without a leash could turn deadly if it gets away from you. But being leashed to your boat in a shore break is even more dangerous.

Good video of a die-hard Island sailor! Good job!

Ditto what Bob said. That would be leash time for me.

Also, carry your rudder pins on your person or in the cockpit my friends!

Great video, Brother Paul.

Thanks for all the comments. I have more video from that event. More to come. Lost a paddle the second day. Is that what they call "Up the creek without a paddle?" After the third day I switched from the NCPC to the NCC when I realized that I was pretty much the only one left in the race. It is always better to finish a race than to be one of those who fade into history.

What URL do you use to post YouTube on the Hobie Forum? I tried the You tube recommended and that does not come up.

My company asked me if I want to transfer to Oahu. Wife is set against it. I still want to go out there maybe next year at least to visit. Would love to do some Hobie sailing out there. Will have to look you up.

Lemme know Paul. We'll get you wet out here. But pack some extra rudder pins. K?

Using Safari, I copied the browsers address bar contents "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWHn8Uxjk38&feature=youtu.be" and pasted them into the youtube brackets

And congrats on finishing that rough race.
