Post subject:  TI trailer options with Hobie & Trailex

First post...

After two years of dreaming about owning an AI, I ordered a TI today and now I need to work on trailering options. I am interested in the Hobie/Trailex trailer, but I am curious if new cradles have been designed for the TI and if more than two cradles are used to support the extra weight and length. My dealer didn't know much about the trailer for the TI or even if there was one specifically designed for the TI.

I am reluctant to order the single version of the trailer as I may order a second kayak (either an Adventure or an AI). If I had the single version, I would like to have the option to build a rack above the TI to hold the second kayak or AI. Would that be possible with parts from Trailex?

I am concerned about ordering the double trailer and having the TI on one side and either an Adventure or an AI on the other. Would the extra length of the TI be a problem in turns (hitting the back of the tow vehicle)? Would the unequal weight distribution (left and right) be a problem?

Thanks for your thoughts and it's exciting to become a part of this community. It's going to be a long wait until late June when the TI is hopefully delivered to my dealer.

We're doing the same thing, but don't yet have the TI cradle or the TI. At present we're using our Trailex to haul our Sport and Outback, but it'll be a TI and Revo in a few weeks.

Thanks for the reply. From your post it sounds like there are specific cradles for the TI. Do you order them through Hobie or Trailex?

Larry - Thanks for the picture of your trailer setup. That's quite a rig. If I had time to hund for an old boat trailer and do the mods myself, I would shoot form something similar to your rig. Unfortunatley, I'm short on time. So, I am opting to purchase the ideal setup to give me more time to use the boats.

Thanks for sharing your ideas.

We ordered the everything, including the TI cradles, through the local Hobie dealership.

Time to jump in the transport questions.

Can the Hobie double trailer 38652200 carry a single AI with the cradles in the center?

Then have the cradles adjusted/added to have have an AI on one side and a TI on the other?

Has anyone needed/considered a winch for the TI?

Just trying to avoid the need to buy two trailers and want to keep the sail yak off the top of my jeep. Thanks!

The Double/Double can do two of all of them, but not the Double.

No need for a winch with the TI one a trailer, at least not the Trailex Double/Double.

Thanks, what is the part number for the double/double?

The photos you posted for your set up look great.
