 Too funny myht! By all means then.. get yourself a TI, rub her down with butter and cram it up above the garage door. I find it quite amusing when I look at all the changes/trouble I go through just to make storing/loading/unloading and using my TI easier. However, the easier it is... the more I use it! Park your truck on the roof... whatever it takes... just get that TI!

Oops! My mistake myht... I was so sidetracked with the humor in your last post that I forgot to mention the thickness (from gunwhale to hull base) 6 foot from the rudder is 10.5 inches on my TI. Hopefully this helps!

Clever arrangement Andrew. And you have a BA Falcon so you must know what you're doing

Great photos, thanks fellas.

One small question re the Harken Hoister.

Is it adjustable to suit a Raked (Cathedral type) Ceiling ?

I've ordered a Harken Hoister (145lb/60kg model) for my AI from Mauri Pro Sailing, Frisco TX.

Cost USD$129 and with the Aussie $ at pretty close to parity.....that's ....errrr....ummmm.... AUD$129.

As mentioned the Boat shops here flog them for around $280 that I've seen.

I was a bit quick on the 'Buy Now' button after ordering the Hoist and another bit of stuff for a total of $230. The USPS Express Mail International + Insurance ($2.90) came to $62.90.

THEN !!!! I saw the "Free Shipping Worldwide" for a min order of $350

Don't do what I did!!!!!

First it looks smaller than it is and wont fit under my deck so I figure I may as well put it under the house.....now car don't fit!!! (under it)

So will move it to other side (lower car) or probable do a car shuffle and leave it on the trailer in the shed!!!!

Apart from that stuff up the Harken lifter is good value and works well!!!

Aaah yeah....measurin'.

I knew there was somethin I had to do.

I've got 3 possible spots.....

1. In the garage above the car with a height of 2220mm above a small hatchback. (It's a beam running across the roof that brings it down to 2220.)

2. Under the back deck which would be OK.

3. Under the front open carport which has got an angled roof and a 'drive thru' driveway. I'm just a bit concerned that someone else might be doing the 'drive thru' bit when I'm not there!

Speaking of which....Insurance.

I haven't insured the AI yet (forgetful) but I have got the Oasis insured for about $80 a year. They won't cover 'in use' but do cover for theft which is pretty much what I wanted anyway.

I got my TI covered for everything at about $130 through GIO. It turned out to be a better deal than Club Marine Boat Insurance.

Paul, what was your sum insured, through GIO? Does the policy cover the TI while you're transporting it too?

The cover was transport/sailing theft and 3rd party injury insurance.
It covered the TI for $5,500. I have home insurance that will cover everything else such as PFD/GPS and alike.

Paul

Is your Insurance 'Boat Insurance', as opposed to 'Specific Contents Insurance' ? (like specific items of expensive jewellery etc)

I'm no Insurance expert but I think the things like PFD's, GPS etc which are 'Boat accessories' would probably be only covered by 'Boat Insurance' ?

A bit like Car Insurance. If they offer specific Insurance packages (Boat/Car) it's those packages that will only cover the relative 'accessories'.

Or am I just paranoid about Insurance Companies limiting claims ?

OasisGuy,

My home insurance covers anything I own under $1000 anywhere in Australia for loss and accidental damage (even the boat if it was <$1000). This is why I have the boat insurance for the TI

Could someone send me the bolt hole center to hole center dimensions for the AI front and rear cradle's? I've ordered a pair and want to make the hanger points on my ceiling.

Thank you
