Versatility was my primary objective, use as much stuff I already had laying around my second priority. Some days I go sailing, some just Kayaks, some hard core fishing trips, always opportunity fishing ready. Some trips just me, some with wife, some with big group. We like to travel so long distance capable.

I used a Triton aluminum jet ski trailer (I had for many years), purchased a Thule truck rack & retrofitted it to the trailer, used Yakima Land Sharks mounts for the AIs (had for years) and put a simple breathable floor in bottom to load gear boxes and coolers.

I can haul 4 yaks (2 being AI) or any less number yaks and a lot of cargo. The rack itself adjust up or down, though keeping the load weight low as possible is always best.

Fishyak,

Looking good! :)

The distance between the pavement and the Thule rack looks pretty close. I wonder if you can raise it a bit to give you more clearance in case you run into a high street bump.

cheers!

cliffsyak, you can raise it higher for sure, at the level in the photo it is not any lower than the axel. I tried one notch lower, it works but could be some occasional clearance issues
