Where can I get a correct, fitted, trailer-able cover as my local dealer 'ACK' of Houston did not order the Hobie part number I gave them but tried to sell me something else. Hobie's parts catalog expressly states they have one for the Tandem Island and even shows a picture. I want it to cover the assembled kayak with amas folded in.
please name, address or phone number.
I live in Houston, Texas

thanks

Was that Austin Kayak Co? They have an online store also.

The Hobie cover is provided by Danuu, so maybe that is what they offered? We chose appropriate length and width adjustable covers from their line. This is not "custom".

The cover item number from the Hobie catalogue is #72054 and states it's for the "Tandem Island folded". From the pictures I would assume (as anyone else might) that this means an assembled and trailered Tandem Island with the amas folded in and cradled against the kayak body with the mast bagged and laying lengthwise.
If I can't get one of these then I will seek another manufacturer. Or just approach an upholstery house for a one-off cover.

That is what is shown in our catalog. It is a good fit.

I know but they gave me a different model. They also said that's all that's available. I just want the one that will fit and tie down to cover entire craft while it travels on trailer. where can I order one?

Have them try again. The cover is in stock here. Last order was received in December.

kgound,
I'm in Houston area and got the Danuu cover for my TI. It is awesome and it will fit. I kind of freaked out when I got it because when I looked at the package I thought it was a one size fits all for any kayak. I thought it might have been a cheaper knock off of a Hobie approved cover. Not so. It's made to wrap up around the entire TI including the Amas. Very high quality cover in my opinion. Make sure it has the red "flag bag" that it folds up into then you know it's a Danuu cover. I've had mine for several months and it seems to be holding up well.

I would recommend taking it off when traveling so that you don't beat it to death like a flag in a high wind, but other than that, I think you will be very happy with it.

Have you had the TI very long and where do you like to sail?

The correct one fits the folded TI perfectly. Here's a good shot of what it should look like...

Fyi... Again... The Hobie cover is a Danuu, the price is also the same, but you get the Red Hobie graphic... only on the Hobie version.

I wish I got the black sail mast cover with the Hobie logo with my TI, intead of the silver turp like material cover that seems to have shrunk as it just fits the mast and the end tends to poke out. :(

Sorry to be off-topic.

I feel the same way. I wonder why the cheaper cover with the temporary look and feel of a silver tarp. I want a black one with a logo, too. What's up Hobie?

Different suppliers. I assume the silver is a US made cover. The black was likely an earlier version made in Asia. We have exceeded sales / supply expectations and had to make a choice... sell boats or make a change. Not sure if we will go back to the black or if this is temporary or permanent. The material of the black was apparently shrinking and fading too, so likely the quality / longevity is better with the silver material anyway.

I can vouch for the black material shrinking. If it's dry, the tip of my TI mast sticks out by a few inches. If the material is wet, I have a couple inches of excess beyond the tip.
