I had read about scuffed areas on the amas and hull being caused when they rub together while trailering.

I also saw a picture of bluehen's trailered TI with beach towels wrapped around the amas to prevent this from happening. I had an old blanket laying around, so I cut it in half and took it with me when I went to pick up my TI.

This works great to prevent the scuffing and it even looks fine in bluehen's picture. I guess my blanket halves were just too big as I had trouble getting them into position by myself, and they bunched up and looked ramshackle shortly after hitting the hiway. Beings I spend a third of my time sitting at red lights with people gawking at the TI when I head out to go sailing around here, I decided to make my "rash guards" look a bit neater and make them easier to install.

Here is what I came up with:

They are 45" long by 12.5" wide with 2.5" folded over and stitched to make a pocket for the 36" bungee to pass through. Obviously, measurements for an AI would be different and the pocket didn't need to be that wide. If you look closely, you can also see some stitching around the ends of the pocket to keep the bungee hooks from pulling back inside when they are removed.

Doubled-up soft outdoor carpeting or pads work well too.

When I cartop the AI, I put foam gardeners kneepads between the hull and Amas.

Nice solution to the chafe problem.
Er, by the way, what is that extraordinary structure at the rear of of the boat?
