I purchased a Yakima round bar and Q-Towers for my 07 Chevy Silverado. Man, that rascal whistles. It actually hurts my ears. Have any of ya'll tried the Yakima Fairling? Does it help any? :x

I haven't tried it, but I hear that it's very effective. See if you can go to a local dealer, leave a credit card with them, and take one on a test drive. A reputable rack dealer should have no problem letting you try that.

On my Subaru impreza, and the wife's Forrester the fairing cut the noise down to barely a whisper.

Have you tried foam or surf pads on it yet?

Is your rack on with the factory rack? I put a Thule on mine and it whistled. I moved the factory crossbars and it lessened considerably. With a boat on the rack twisting the straps also helped lessen whistles.

I have thules aeroblades - the "quietest" bars in the world. They still make noise.

Moving the front bars back a few inches can make quite a big difference, at various speeds.

When that's not an option, closing the windows and playing some death metal helps.

Alright! Heres the lowdown. The Yakima fairing cut down the wind noise by 75%. I am definitely satisfied with that purchase. I put the Oasis on the new rack system for the 1st time today. Since I pull a 5th wheel camper, I put (1) Yakima bar on the roof and mounted a front reciever hitch to accept a Yakima Drydock. I put foam blocks under the hull which rides upside down with the rudder towards the front of the truck. The only problem that arose was that I could not tie off to the grab handle on the stern because the rudder rides over it. I had to run the straps thru the scupper holes to the tow hooks on the truck. But, it withstood 75 mph and did not move a bit. Mission Accomplished!
