Post subject:  AI on boat bunks?

I just purchased a brand new 16ft Loadright trailer with two sets of 6 ft bunks (4 total)

Rather than go out and purchase the AI cradles- are the bunks sufficient enough to support the AI hull? I see no reason why they wouldnt, however I cant find anything within here showing anyone actually supporting this way...

I realize I would still need to find a solution to support the AKAs

Thank youall for any advice!

AI is being picked up on THUR!!!!

I've often wondered this myself. It would seem that a 12 foot bunk would provide more support than the Hobie cradles. With the high cost of the Hobie cradles, and the fact that only using two cradles probably isn't sufficient for long term storage, I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone try this.

I think the bunks would be too stiff. PVC forms to the curve of the hull.

Thank You All for these great ideas!

Im using a Karavan Jetski trailer for my TI. I used the hobie cradles but still noticed dents when I flipped the hull to store it for the winter.
If I use the PVC pipes it will lower the kayak by about 4-6" leaving it only 18-20" from the ground.

Could I use the same PVC pipe to support a TI? I read the corresponding thread from PA owners having good luck with it.
The weight differences aren't that much and the grooves on the bottom of the TI narrow only 1-2" in the last 4 of 12ft

Whaddaya Think???

The PVC should work just fine for the main hull, you would still need support for the outer hulls.
