The distance should actually be centre-to-centre.

Thanks! I'll adjust it. So good at that now!

Launched yesterday at the reservoir. So much fun! And boy have we forgotten how to drive reverse with a trailer. I have to go practice in an empty lot.

Wow! What a terrible shame all the trouble you were caused. I remember having UPS deliver my trailer kit and I wondering if I could ever get it all together. After about 2 four hour sessions [and looking at lots of pix on this site] I figured it out and it really went smoothly [all the parts well made]. Your story makes me glad I did it this way because my dealer is a good 50 minutes from where I live.

Easy way to remember. Hand on bottom of steering wheel... swing hand left to steer trailer left... right to steer trailer right.

Thanks Matt, what's funny is that (with a Mazda cx-9), we're fine when the kayak is on the trailer but can't see anything when it isn't, so I'm getting a couple of driveway markers to drop in the tiedown loops on the crossbars when retrieving. And don't think my DH should do the blind backup again when the rest of the lake is in the middle of a fishing competition.... for a little while, at least.

Would like to mention here that I just had a very good conversation with the dealer and they were very responsive to my email on the problems I encountered, we were able to work it all out.
