i’m not sure we have it in my original post, it seems to of disappeared.
I’m looking For any community advice on transporting a used tandem island with a trailer I was able to buy. The trailer is a bit overkill for the kayak, but it’s what I’ve got right now. I redid the bunks and got them as close as possible. The bunks are 6 feet long and support a third of the kayak, the nose of the kayak rests on the front bowtie wheel, there’s very little weight on that wheel from the kayak. I plan to use non-ratcheting straps and secure the front of the kayak to the trailer as well as the back of the kayak to the trailer so it cannot shift forward or back. my biggest concern is just if I’m damaging the underside of the kayak by transporting it this way. I see lots of posts about PVC pipe but I’m not sure what’s going on there. Most of the transportation I’ll be doing with his kayak will be under two hours of driving.
my last post seemed to receive a comment from a moderator saying it looked good from their perspective, I think the person actually worked for Hobie. So I’m guessing I’m good with the set up, but any advice is appreciated. I don’t have any experience owning a kayak, especially anything this size, but there’s no traveling this year for my family of five and I was looking for something fun for us to try to learn. Thanks!
