FIrst off a big thanks for some useful information.

I had been storing my AI (Bought in December) on a pair of saw horses with pool noodles across the top that I thought would protect the hull. After reading this thread and noting that the approved way of storage is upside down resting on the Akas I lifted the boat down and was a bit upset to discover I have two slight "flats" where the AI has been sitting (only a couple of weeks)

Having now developed a couple of flat areas I reasoned it may be ok to leave the AI outside with the hatches and bung secure and see if a an increase in pressure may push the areas back out. Is this a sensible approach, or should I just leave them and not worry. But make sure it is stored upside down from now on.

Incidentally the idea for the saw horses came from a couple of stands the dealer was using called "Sea Horses" that all of his hobie kayaks sit on in the store (including the big ones) The Sea Horses are massively expensive here in W.A. but I reasoned the Bunnings $24.00 saw horses would do the same job. Is the Webbing support on the Sea Horses a better bet, or will that also damage the hull in time as contact area of the hull was about the same as the pool noodle ?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Regards.

-Tim

The webbing helps to distribute the loads, so would be better.

You can try leaving for awhile, they likely will pop back out. Then try hot water poured over a towel on the hull to soften the plastic and a small amount of air pressure in the hull.

Thanks Mr. Miller.

I bought a set of Talic Sea Horses for the AI as I really didn't like putting it upside down.

Thanks again.

I was thinking of getting a set of the Talic seahorses until I noticed that the max capacity is only 100 pounds. An AI (rigged) is at least 115 lbs.
Do you only store the hull on them?
