Just ordered our first TI. It's a 2015 so we will have to wait until next spring to get out on it. Just looking to see if there were any other Eastern Nebraska or Western Iowa TI/AI owners out there. Maybe you have some sailing location tips as well.

I am a wantAbe TI owner. I have an outfitter but want a TI so much! Just not in the cards right now. But if you ever just want to yak let me know. I am in Papillion and right now we pretty much go to walnut creek and puttz around or fish. I think Manawa is pretty much the closest sailing area.

Guess is just us. I find that interesting seeing as how Select Sail sold out of their 2014 AI's and TI's plus they've already sold their demo.

Not all Hobie owners watch this forum. In fact, of the roughly 1 dozen Hobie kayak owners I personally know around here, only 2 of us watch this forum.

So they're out there - you just have to find alternate ways to reach them.

The island club is a little lacking in these parts. Guess I will need to just need to get out on the water in the spring and see who I can meet.

Yeah I have seen tons (well about 6 at walnut creek in the last month or so) of the yaks but I have yet to see an Island in person. And there is only one real dealer in about 2-3 hour radius of here...

I live in Omaha, I tow a Hobie Tandem Island behind my motorcycle. I have sailed many of the lakes around here and have some favorities.

Lake Manawa
Branched Oak Lake
Cunningham Lake
Standing Bear Lake
Lake Zorinsky
Chalco Hills
Walnut Lake

All of these lakes offer ample opportunity to spend hours of fun sailing, pedaling or paddling your TI. Some of them have feeder streams, so If you are feeling adventurous, remove the akas, and go explorring. The catch is this...18 feet of kayak can be tricky to turn around on a very narrow feeder stream. your going to get out, and into the weeds. But the adventure makes it worth it. The TI is by far one of the most versatile boats on the planet, its a transformer of the finest design. Get hold of me, I'll be happy to take ya out on it, I take mine out 3-4 times a week. and am a member of the WoggWorks kayak club. They are on FB.
Also, whatever you do, buy a trailer! There is no good reason to wrestle 18 feet of kayak onto the top of any vehicle when a trailer is a readily available option.

Thanks Joe! I figured those were some of the best places. I've been to Manawa and we just checked Cunningham out last weekend. I'll look up the kayak club on FB and probably join. We are definitely getting a trailer. The easier it is to use the more apt we are to use it. I ordered tramps for the kids to sit on too. Now we just need to convince Defy to by a TI.

Joe, I would love to see a pic of the trailer/bike set up.

I just sold my Roadglide and only have my hardtail sporty left so no pulling a boat for me.

Another note on trailering a TI, what do you do with it in the winter?
Still planing but will really look hard this winter for a used TI/AI.

I am thinking a fold up trailer would be nice and just hang the yak on the ceiling.

I think I am going to hit up Chalco Hills this weekend.

I just plan on shoving the whole thing in the garage in the winter, trailer and all.

Defy, There is a good picture of it on the J&P cycles facebook page dated July 24. www.baxtercycle.com photo gallery page the boat is fully rigged. I pull it with a 2006 Triumph Scrambler 900. Its a blast. The sidecar is on and off in about 10 minutes. Great in the snow. During the winter, I strip the TI down and leave it outside. before the TI, I was towing an outfitter. The Trailex aluminum trailers make all of this craziness work very well.

Tom:If you are ordering the Trailex trailer I have some very important tips for you that make your life alot easier. It will lower the trailer cradles 5 inches so you can actually launch it into the water off the trailer.

Joe,

It's not the trailex trailer. It's whatever the Select Sail and Sports uses. At least it doesn't look like the Hobie trailex.

A hell of a lot cheaper than the trailex too.
