Finally, we have some action to back up our words. Well the action probably isn't the wave crashing, white water, gale force action, but more the foot peddeling, lay back, look at that pelican sort of action. But what a great couple of days. The only thing lacking was some wind which restricted our distances a bit, but how could we complain. Glorious weather, spectacular scenery and magnificent wildlife. Getting up close and personal with mutton birds, pelicans, sea eagles, seals, schools of bait fish, dolfins, fairy penguins and something really big, makes us think that Jervis Bay is in a pretty healthy state. Honeymoon Bay was a perfect base with tidy camp facilities and idealic water access. Strongly recommend it. I hope these photos do it some justice. Honeymoon Bay. Heading out towards Point Perpendicular. Still heading out towards Point Perpendicular. A bit of wind would be nice. Point Perpendicular, western side. Jason and Stringy. And you thought pelicans were lazy ! Eastern end of Murray's beach where we met up with a couple of trendy eskimos. Idealic beach until some yobs decided to race around on motor bikes. East of Bowen Island. Stringy in full flight. Point Perpendicular light house. View from the lighthouse looking south towards Bowen Island. Another one. Lighthouse reflected in a puddle of my creative juices. No it's not the Chipendales. Myself, Stringy, Jason and Mickey. Thanks for the trip fellas. Spot on ! |

Nice scenery mate. Did you get a look at the seal colony down at Cape St George? |

Excellent photos mate! Except I'm not too keen on the group shot we're I appear to have a koala bear or something stuffed under my shirt I'll post a few - but discovered many are partially blurred due to dirty lens. I reckon we were really lucky with the weather - it was 22c here Monday but it's 16, wet & cold here today, with even worse weather to come during the week. Probably won't be long before you guys get it too. Anyhow, I'm really pleased I made the effort to come up. Thanks again for a great weekend - look forward to the next one - wherever that may be. Bass Straight's looking more of a possibility |

I thought that was just the wind ruffling your shirt out Mickey. |

How silly of me! I recall now - it was quite windy where I was standing. Now that's leaving myself wide open for disparaging comments |

Didn't get to Cape St George Chris. Ran out of wind and legs. CGM, there will definately be another one. Loved it. Sorry Mickey, the photo must have had unflattering ligthing or something, or you weren't trying to smuggle home a bandicoot were you ? In fact I don't know if we can squeeze another trip in before the bad weather or your trip away, but after Stringy mentioned it, I have been looking at Montigue Island off Narooma. That looks really good and just up the road from you. It's only a 20km out and around. Dunno about camping but I'll give the ranger a ring and get some details. May be something for Autumn. P.S. There is another shot of you in the Photo Comp. |

Quote: May be something for Autumn. Did you mean spring Hope not - I'm away then. I sure wouldn't want to miss a trip like that - and getting closer to home for me too. I reckon Gabo Island from Mallacoota would be a great trip too. I'm almost certain you could camp there - I'll check it out. Could be another great future trip and preparation for the island hop to Tassie - not that we'd leave from there but ya know what I mean |

Spring, that's what I meant, but I meant just before you leave, say Octoberish. But seing that it's now only May, based on the JB thread, we had better not start a Montigue Island thread just yet. Looks good though. http://www.google.com.au/images?hl=en&q ... a=N&tab=wi |

Nice work again Slaughter! Some more pics: Mickey and first glimpse of Point Perpendicular The spectacular cliffs are around 90m high and keep going below the water surface for 40m in places. Slaughter Ocean side of PP Heading for Bowen Island Jason, Slaughter and Mickey Slaughter and Jason with PP in distance Sadly you can't land on Bowen Island as it's a penguin sanctuary The clear water and white sand of Murrays Beach Heading back. Now that's a set of turbo's! (One of the inspirations for flipper propulsion, resting.) Thanks fellas for another fantastic AI trip. Looking forward to another visit, hopefully including a run from Currarong back in to Honeymoon Bay if the winds allow! |

Wonderful photos thanks for taking the time and effort to share them. I remember there was a loud protest from the power boat fraternity when re-fueling wharves were disallowed in JB but just look at the pristine waters and the unique diversity of sea life we have to enjoy as a result of preserving the natural system, particularily the sea-grass beds that support so much of it. |

That's far enough away to do the necessary logistical planning required for such a trip I think. Nice time of the year too. A group of trailer sailers and motor cruisers came over from Hobart Yacht Club to Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club in Feb this year. They allowed a week to get here, a week of R&R, and a further week to return. In our circumstances we'd need to allow lots of flexibility for weather and I imagine we would bring them home by land/ferry I know some of the guys want to do it but will have difficulty because of work commitments. That's not a problem for me Here's two interesting links http://www.laurieford.net/APBass.html http://www.natureline.com.au/bass_strait.htm |
