I know it's busy on Sydney Harbour over the holiday period but last year it was a blast wondering around North Harbour and Middle Harbour in particular - a real party atmosphere and lots to look at!!! :P

The same applies to Patonga and Cowan Creek although more remote.

I'm not to bothered by parking regulations and plan to have an o/nighter or 2 over the holidays. As long as you don't litter, start fires and play up too much nobody cares where you park.

Store Beach is a favored venue for me with cafe and supplies easily accessable at Manly.

No dates or organisation required just look for a good weather cycle and go. See u there.

Hi davew,

I'm a new TI owner who should be living in Syd late Feb. I'd be interested in a few recommendations as to launch sites and general tips for Sydney Harbour if you don't mind.

Don't think I'll be able to join your expedition this time.

Cheers

Swany

No problem Swany welcome to the fleet. I launch at Greenwich - Clarks Point or Tunks Park Northbridge mid week.

Happy to show you around.

Do you have a trailer? Is it possible to parke there with a trailer? I've bought TI a couple of months ago and only tried to launch from Rose Bay and at the boat ramp next to airport. I am thinking of going to Sydney harbour on Boxing day to watch the start of Sydney to Hobart. Where would be the best spot to launch?

I am not sure that is advisable really. A friend has watched the start from his 40 foot yacht, and he said the water gets so cut up that the ride is so uncomfortable that some people, even seasoned sailors, felt crook. When you then add the d**khead factor ("let's see if we can get a better view") plus the low profile of a TI, I fear that the risks would be too high. Just my thoughts

Hi igorp,

As a seasoned Sydney-Hobart sailor, I fully support Tony's comments. Sydney Harbour on Boxing Day is no place for a TI or any other small watercraft. The start of the race is really exciting, so my recommendation would be to join a commercial Harbour cruise for the day. Captain Cook Cruises have some good options.

Land options are South Head or North Head.

I'll be watching the start this year in front of the telle with a few friends and some beers!

Rob.

Best place for me down in Victoria... Far from the madness :D
Today I hope to get the AI fully on the roof of the new car.... I hope

I carry my AI on the car - no trailer. As for launching ramps both Greenwich and Northbridge have ramps but, Northbridge is very crowded and parking difficult on weekends and hols - Greenwich is challenging for a trailer although parking is usually OK.

Sydney harbour boxing Day - as they said!

Appreciate your help davew. I'm car topping or (jeep topping actually) my TI so maybe that's a plus at these launch sites? Will be residing in the Lane Cove area.
