Looking past the slot, in this picture, the pocket limits lateral movement of the drumshaft. I referred to that as the "stop". You just want to eliminate the possibility of the end of your drumshaft hanging up against this surface.

3mm off center shouldn't normally be a problem. Indeed, since it's still a tight fit on port with the Drive reversed, it's not likely your culprit. Still, you can center the shaft by tapping it with a block or mallet to be sure.

Sorry to hear that you're having a problem.

Chris I trust by now you have your drive lock system sorted. I had a bit of a problem a couple of days back when the drive wouldn't lock in on one side. Took a bit of muscle to eventually get it to work. When I got the boat home, I observed the boats locking mechanism on the starboard side was not vertical and had somehow been slightly bent across one side. A careful straightening seems to have cured it. Just a thought...Pirate

Thanks for your concern Pirate. I had noted that one of the locks was not perfectly vertical on my boat but did not have the chutzpah to fiddle with it. Actually, today, I took the AI out for about its fifth outing with the Mirage drive in and, for the first time, it clicked in cleanly and stayed in. I am hoping that it is "wearing in". If not, I will try your suggestion and adjust the alignment of the lock tab.

Chris
