Post subject:  Problem with rudder handle turning to far

This must have been covered before but I have not been able to find the thread. A couple times while sailing yesterday I was able to rotate the rudder handle almost to the back of the boat. This caused the mechanism to go over center and locks it up. What can I do to prevent this
Thanks,
Mike

Maybe the lines are too loose? Seems the other line should limit the turn, but look inside the hull for the lever. I believe they should contact the hull. A slight straightening of the lever may work.

Thanks Matt I checked the lines and they are tight . I will tweak the lever up a bit so it contacts the reinforcment for the plastic eye

A mirror is a handy tool when working on stuff inside the hull. Sorry, no other bright ideas.

For what it's worth, it happened to me the other day and I was able to release it by retracting the rudder (pulling on the up line). It only happened once.
