Who out of all of you would be prepared to pay for a comprehensive Hobie A1 manual not the slip of a thing you get with the boat....a really nice illustrated compilation of tips from the this forum that seem to get lost in the archives...right there in front of you...I would. It wouldnt be cheap, very limited publication..but then the A1 is a unique craft, and recognising that, we have all already forked out quite a lot of money to have one. Theres probably a Hobie publications dept, the company is massive.

Sorta like the collected works of Roadrunner? I was wondering if we don't need a sticky FAQ posted, with all the issues that arise over and over - rudders popping up, dealing with weather helm, seats coming loose etc, etc. Some of the venerable old hands from the forum could vet what went in. It needn't cost anything, since the information is freely available on the forum - it just needs compiling.

I totally agree. It doesn't need to be printed as such, it could be downloadable from here, you could print it off if you wanted it on paper.
That way it would always be current.

My problem as a newbie to the AI is that I got no manual with it (I bought it secondhand) and there aren't any others in my area to look at or people to ask questions.

I have several questions, some I have asked already and there will be more in the future. A technical manual on the site would be excellent!

Manual is a downloadable pdf but quite limited. The forums here will serve you well. I read the AI forum for a month before I bought mine and I was teaching the dealer a few things I had picked up here..
a Sticky thread or PDF would be great for the tips and tricks we need.

I have been working on FAQs for all products (like the tech notes on AIs http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=5958) , so this would be a good one to concentrate on. If you find a specific post that would be good... post a link here and I will add it.

I already have many related specifically to kayaks: http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewforum.php?f=21

and MirageDrive: http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewforum.php?f=60

The Forum Sticky is great idea, we use them on the Recumbent Bike Forum, I guess Hobie like to keep our unit cost down by not having to print a fancy manual so that is understandable.

The AI is often design-improved so the early manuals would become landfill and it would be a costly thing to constantly print and distribute new ones.
