Hi all,

I've got one of my inserts in the end of the aka has worked loose.

Has anyone reglued or re-fixed one of these?

What is the best solution - glue type etc.? (It's still under warranty but I'm not that petty.)

These are glued in originally, so the "fix" is to re-apply some epoxy and re-install the end cap. No problem.

Thanks Matt,

Figured as much. I reckon the twisting load has worked it loose.

I thought it looked like epoxy, just thought I'd ask.

If it is twisting load that's caused it do you reckon roughing up the inside of the tube to give it something to key into would make much difference, or would damaging the coating on the inside of the tube be detrimental to the alloy given that we sail in salt water?

If it's like mine, it's "D" shaped inside the aka tube and can't twist. Mine all have started coming out at some time. I think the Ama hold the ends just a little too good sometimes and pull one out a little, now and again. I tried re-glueing mine a couple of times but they still do it at times. It also may have to do with which end of the ama is released first, as I find sometimes with both bungees off, the aka and ama don't want to slide apart. As long as they dont get too loose, I have just been taping them back in when putting them away after a washing and inspection each trip. If you find something that works, please let us know.
