I was wondering if a Mirage drive unit could be installed into a non-hobie kayak. I have been dying to get a sport just for the excercise alone, if not the fishing-yet I can't seem to save the clams for it. Has anyone retrofitted one of these units into a Wilderness Systems, Old Town or other brand that is not custom made at home?

I could get the drive alone, but I don't know if such a thing is feasible.

Anyone have experience with this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Interesting.....thanks. Problem is, though, that the Rob Roy canoe costs more by itself than the most expensive Hobie 'yak with the mirage system.

Would be an option, though, if I could get a steal on a used one.
