I have just taken delivery of a 2010 model AI in Cambridge UK and would be most pleased to hear from any owners in this area. To all of those involved with the design, development and construction, many thanks for what I'm sure will prove to be a wonderfull boat. However, isn't there always a however! I rigged her for the first time today and found the top mast bearing on the forward beam is mis-aligned. This means the mast lock will not retract far enough to release the mast and the drum also rubs on the bearing mounting bracket. My question is, if I loosen the front beam mounting bolts is the enough slack to move the beam into alignment with the mast socket? I haven't tried this yet as it's now pouring with rain and I hope I may get a reply before it stops raining here! My thanks in anticipation, Pugwash (Admiral retd!) |

Odd one... Only adjustments normally done are on the vertical. The "V" brace inside the hull can be adjusted to lift or lower the mast relative to the bearings and release lever. |

Matt thank you for you promt reply. The rain did stop so I investigated the problem further and discovered the position of the holes through the deck are incorrect, causing the front beam to be off square to the centre line of the hull. Naturally the locking latch being part of the lower pivot assembly is now mis-aligned with the bearing and hence the latch will not retracting far enough to release the mast. I have contacted the agent in the UK from whom I purchased the boat and am awaiting to hear how they wish to correct the fault. I also have a good picture of this problem, but have not discovered how to upload it. Best wishes Pugwash ( deck hand ) |
