No sailing for me for the next few days. I try not to get out in small craft advisories. :)

Except, of course, when you do,...

(There's lots more where that came from.)

(Big Sigh ...)

I know exactly where that picture was taken. Wife and I were on Maui for 2 weeks in '08 (second time there) looking for possible retirement property ... found out all I could afford was a spot to stand on.

We dove several times - hearing the humpbacks while underwater is a song that shall forever reverberate in my soul. Diving with Bertha off Kona on the Big Island was another memory permanently engraved in me. She played with us for over a half hour (I think she loved my camera lites) ... that is my wife that she gracefully "hugs" in the fly-by's

Someday we will be back ...

Well, when you do, get in touch with me and we'll add to your fun...

Nice dive! I did one in 2000 with dozens of manta rays and it was special.

Now's the time to buy here, but still $300,000 is about as low as a few get (same were $600,000-$800,000 two years ago)

And check out that line of windturbines on the ridge. You'll realize why Kayaking Bob may just have the best Hobie playground on the planet.

Hold on to the old sail.

I have a local sail maker repairing one of mine. I'll know better soon, on how well it works. Should be under $100 for all new clear parts.

To be continued...

Still got it.
The yacht club repair divas never even returned my call. I then looked for a couple windsurf repair guys, but finally gave up.
Anyway -who needs em! I've got red duct tape!! :D

You must be storing in the sun when furled? That is clearly UV damage by looking at the color change / fade along the foot and leech.

If you look a big sailboats who have furling jibs, they often have a wide strip of UV stable cloth in these faded areas. A sailmaker would be able to do that for you. Especially if leaving the mast up for long periods. Then when furled, it's like having a sail cover on.

We do recommend storing in the bag and out of the sun though.

Do you have a drawing of the AI sail with dimensions available that I might email to our local sailmaker, to get a quote for adding the UV cloth?
