On my H17S, the screw that goes into the end cap of the spreader pole has let loose of the nut inside the spreader pole and the connection point of the upper and lower bridle wires. That point of connection is trying to migrate outside of the spreader pole (see picture).

How do I fix this? I took the screw out of the spreader bar cap but the cap doesn't easily come off. Do I just need to apply more force? Hacksaw?

However, I'm not sure that getting the cap off does any good since I need to the screw to go in through the cap and then into the point of connection of the bridle wires and then there is a nut that need to be secured. Doesn't seem like I can get at all of that even with the cap off?

Thanks!

I would not leave the mast up with this going on... nor sail for sure. Remove the plastic end cap, then force the bridle wire, lower stainless bridle and end casting out the end of the crossbar. Re-assemble.

Thanks Matt. The mast is not up but I was just curious if the entire linkage was dependent on being attached to end cap.
Is the cap usually difficult to remove? I used a flat head screw driver around the lip of the cap but couldn't get it off. Any tips?
Thx

Maybe hammer it out by inserting a blade driver into the bridle slot. Hitting the end casting from the inside.

There is a stainless fitting that connects the two bridle segments. That fitting bolts to the casting. Otherwise the load would tear into the aluminum.
