The rudder update kit will be provided to all TI owners and will be officially announced likely next week. We will likely announce on the forums and web, and any registered TI owner can get it. All the details are being worked out to make the rudders behave!

Again, sorry for the issues and please understand this has our undivided attention. The TI is an awesome product and we are determined to make it the best we can.

Great ! Thank you Doug for the follow through on the snapping rudder. Appreciate that this is being looked into.

Is this fix only for the snapping off rudder problem and/or for the steering issues also?

Since Hobie is reading this I want to make sure they're aware of this too. My dealer said there appeared to be a sharp edge within the drum that cut my steering line. Makes me worry that this could happen again since nothing has been done about the sharp edge.

We are well aware of the sharp edge on the bolt for the left steering line. However thanks for pointing that out. The kit we are working on will replace that since most guys don't have the tools to work on stainless steel.

More information later this week.

I forgot to mention that the kit being assembled addresses the steering issues we have had to date on the TI rudder. The rudder breaking is a bit different as we are still gathering information to understand what is happening.

I have not "officially" registered as the card required the "dealer" to sign it - which they did not. Can I send that in anyway. AND - will this kit be available through the dealer?

Thanks to Hobie for addressing the issue.

In flaneur's image of his TI rudder you can see those lines everyone is talking about that all converge at one point on the part of the rudder closest to the hull. The point where they converge is where I have seen the rudder snap in half.

JG, yep, sure is. Bet they lead to the mould injection point!
