While breaking down after sailing this past weekend, I noticed some sloshing sounds comming from inside my mast. Ended up finding a few cups of water inside of my mast. I think water is leaking in via the rivets and base assembly but not exactly sure. So far not a problem, but wondering if I need to seal the bottom of my mast somehow. Did anyone experience this?

NO!

Just in the bottom section? How did you get it out? Sure it's salt water?

Nohuhu,

I just took apart the mast and poured out the water. I reassembled mast making sure I aligned the bottom and top. Then duct taped the splice. Just an odd place to find water so just wondering.

Seems like a good place to hide stuff. Could've been some liquor that a factory worker was hiding before installing the 1/2 inch bolts to mount my rudder ;)

cheers!
