I bought a used adventure island, in as new condition a couple of months ago, but being winter haven't had a chance to use it. Yesterday, with the warmer weather, I took it out using only the mirage drive but found I just went around in circles anti clockwise. I made some adjustments to the lines and tried it out again only to snap the shear pin. This morning while effecting repairs I noticed with the rudder on full lock, the lines have a lot of slack allowing the rudder to flop around, yet when in the straight ahead position the lines are quite taught, is this normal? I have also noticed the twist and stow lines are also very loose but when tightened the twist and stow won't operate. Again is this normal? Finally, on the mirage drive system, there are no set screws securing the fin masts where the manual says they should be and I can't find anything in the vicinity that looks like a set screw, any ideas? |

The Twist and Stow rudder needs to be cleated down. Pull the down line and with tension on it... place the line in the cleat. If not, the rudder will strat to come up a bit and as it "twists" it causes a left turn. It is possible that the rudder, when hard over, would have a loose control line on the opposite side.
