Ahhh, Dogs, would you say that was a difficult trip?

Keith

PS I'm looking forward to you doing the Ultimate Florida Challenge next year. Based on your experience this year, you will have to carry, 9 GPS units. The 9th one is a spare.

It's only a cover for the brass fitting used to attract more plastic during molding. You could do nothing, or fill it in with anything that will hold up.

With the scratched you get at times, you might just want to try some of the different tapes others have used to protect areas of the bottom.

I thought they dumped a whole bunch of plastic bits into a mold and then heated and spun it to spread the molten plastic. How does a brass piece attracting more plastic fit into this scenario?

Don't really know but I agree with KB. The white plug is only cosmetic. It is a cover for the threads that are used to hold the brass piece in place in the mold. The white plugs indicated in the AI's early days that the reinforcing brass insert was fitted. :)

Thanks for all the input. I will trim the stub and put on some sealer like GOOP.

For the amount of shells and oysters that I crossed, the bottom looks pretty good. At one point I was stuck a long way from water when the tide went out. I used my life jacket wrapped in a towel to pivot the main hull to the water. I placed the jacket under the bow or stern and walked the other end around. This worked quite well with minimal damage...

So the Hobie brass insert is like a belly button.

Dawg, did you have skid plates on for this race?

Glad there was no physical damage to the Capt this year.

My body felt great this year. I think part of my problem last year was the Cholesterol Medicine that I was taking. Rabdo is one of the first side effects of CRESTOR.

My Mirage drive has taken the worst beating. The rods can be straightened. I will need new drums. The whole that the shaft passes through is no longer round and tight...
