Just picked up a 2011/12 TI and the first thing I noticed is that the amas are not right.

When assembled the amas have a distinct forward angle rather than be perpendicular to the hull.
In simplest terms it looks very much like the Aka braces are both too long by almost an inch. I have a spare "V1" AI aka brace which is shorter and if I jury rig that in seems to be almost perfect.

One on the consequences of the forward leaning amas is a pretty saggy set of tramps.

Do we have one of those odd situations where a Aka brace of a an odd size because of TI hull changes?

So what is the solution? A new set of aka braces?

Thanks

Some early TI's reported (http://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=30856&) the aka braces were too long.

Matt on the TI They are 23 1/4" from tip to tip and definitely do not make things look square. My V1 AI is 21 1/2" and that looks much better. So yes 22" looks indeed to be what I need.

Thanks for the quick reply.... what now on the 2 braces. Hacksaw time? :D

I'm thrilled to get the TI but want everything to be shipshape before taking it on the water.

Thanks, I knew there was a thread somewhere about that, I should have looked harder

There are even some pics of the sagging tramps and akas angled forward of true perpendicular. I knew it wasn't an optical illusion or anything - :)

If they are too long it's an easy fix. Remove the end piece and trim the tube back a little. You can eyeball it, but cut less than you think it'll require. Easy to trim more, but hard to put any back on.
