There is a 2011 AI for sale with a trailer that I am starting to look at. The price appears good since it comes with a trailer and Hobie cover.

Are there any serious issues that I should be aware of with that year model?

I am intrigued with the new Mirage 180 drive and that can be retrofitted to all mirage drive kayaks so that will be on my upgrade list if I pull the trigger on this...

thanks

Depends on what they're asking for it, hull condition, sail condition, etc. I don't believe they're are any model issues, but I would definitely check for cracks around the mirage drive well.

For additional upgrades you might like to upgrade the seat to the Attwood (there are post about that) and adding the spinnaker.

I loved my 2011 AI. Never a problem of any kind. It is not as fast, not nearly, as my 2015 AI 2.

From looking at the ad, it appears to be stock except it comes with a Trailex trailer (about 6 months old) and the Hobie boat cover. They are asking $4400 for everything.

Would you guys say that is a reasonable price for a 2011 TI with a trailer?

I would not pay more than $3000-$3300 for that rig.

I have a 2011 AI- still love it and no issues! Just Cant justify the added costs of a newer model- But absolutely wish I had one! Cheaper for me to add a Jackson Elite seat for now until the urge kicks in next spring ;)

Id say that price is a bit high, but about right if it was well taken care of. I lump 2011-2014 models into the same group based on similar features. Around ~$3000 for the TI and another $1k for the trailer is about what I would expect to pay.

Have you checked with your local dealers. The dealers around here (up and down east coast) often have older demos or just old stock that are in that price point ($3500-$4000).

I think $4400 for that rig is much too high. You can get a new 2017 AI 2 for $4749 from ACK in TX (no taxes, but $200 shipping). Outfit a cheap trailer and you are in business with a boat that is 6 yrs newer (brand new), much better for sailing, and has new drives.

Your posts are confusing, however. Your initial post refers to an 2011 "AI," which is an Adventure Island, and my comments are about that boat. Your second post refers to a "2011 TI," i.e. a tandem--a totally different boat.

Apologies, i was thinking this was the price for a TI and trailer

For a 2011 AI and trailer, I'd pass on that price.

There are a few 2011 and 2012 AI for sale in my area with accessories in the 2200-3000 range.

The new 180 drives are supposed to add $150 each to the retail of the new kayaks.
